Testimonials We brought a second-hand Downunder 9ft off road camper, which had never been off road, two years ago from a chap in the Northern suburbs of Perth. We originally owned a Jayco camper but decided we needed to buy a camper that would take us everywhere. So far we have been across the Great Central Road from Laverton to Uluru and down the Oodnadatta Track (over 4000k off-road), through the Pilbara via Murchison Settlement and Mt Augustus and included Ningaloo Station. Our most recent trip was over the Old Telegraph Track which runs from Norseman to Balladonia, then on to Mt Ragged and Israelite Bay. Our 9ft Off Road Downunder Camper has never missed a beat and has, thus far, followed us where ever we choosen to go. The biggest problem we have encountered is a small amount of dust, probably due to major corrugations and bulldust aplenty, and a broken gas fitting (which was our fault) as the gas bottle moved around. Our camper is now part of our family, and goes on all our holidays. Next year we are going up North to the Kimberley, NT and Queensland outback. Our camping friends saw how well our Outback handled the Great Central Road and the Ernest Giles Road so went and brought themselves one as well after using rooftoppers for many years. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending a Downunder Camper to any family or person who wants to go out and see the places that most will only ever dream of. Our camper has opened up so many possibilities and future adventures for us, and created so many joyful times and great family memories. I would recommend a Downunder camper, to both beginners and more experienced campers, as it represents value for money. Jason Steele 2011 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Brett, Brett we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your service. It's been an absolute pleasure dealing with you in purchasing our camper trailer. I tend to chop and change things and am very fussy about what i want so i guess anyone who deals with me requires a lot of patience and your assistance, advice and feedback throughout the order process was very much appreciated. You are also most welcome to pass on my details to any of your future potential clients who are looking for feedback on your service and campers - we would be delighted to show off our camper trailer to them and advise them of our experience with Down Under Campers. Thanks once again, look forward to catching up with you on the road somewhere... Jeelan & Lisa Amin ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Brett, I thought I would just let you know that we recently sold our custom built on road trailer, of which you did all the canvas work. It sold in just two weeks for our full asking prices (no negotiation). The family who bought it, said the canvas work and condition was excellent and way above other campers advertised for higher prices. After four years (trailer) and 1 ½ yrs with the camper top, we basically got our money back! Thanks so much Brett – we are now forced to finalise the details for our new off-road camper you’re making. Mike & Paula, Bunbury WA. 2010 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Brett and team, Luke and Kylie ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Brett, I dont know if you remember but last year you put together a canvas annex to fit our Toyota Hiace camper. When I came into your factory I must of driven you nuts with all our questions. Thank you so much for answering them honestly and explaining all the differnces between different types of canvas, stitching and reliable designs ( I never knew how complex it could be ). Anyhow Scottie and I would love to thank you guys at Down under Campers for being so patient with me in particular. We are now back from travelling all around Australia. Our annex has survived all kinds of conditions, from the hot to the cold, from the dry to the storms and down pours. We have also decided that in approx a year we want to go off road and we wont be able to take the Toyota Hiace. So Brett we look forward to doing business again in the future with you... we want a camper trailer next!! By the way on our way around Australia I made sure I took the opportunity to mention Down Under Campers. I'm so happy we found you! Anyway thanks again. Ps here are some photo's :-) Many thanks Jeannie and Scottie ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Down Under Campers have helped us fulfil one of our dreams - travelling WA to see the awesome pristine outback. Their heavy duty off road camper is second to none. The construction is strong, their design is based on personal experience. The trailer size allows us to pack more into the main storage, provides easier access and even enabled us to carry our 40lt Engle fridge in the storage box. In addition to a great product, the service is friendly, offering practical design suggestions and most importantly they listened to what we wanted and created the solution to match. When considering a camper trailer, you can't beat Down under Campers! Highly recommend." Peter A ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Here's a couple of photo's of us crossing the King Edward River on the way to Mitchell Falls. (See photo gallery - Happy Campers). You might recognize the camper trailer on the back, as it's one of yours. You didn't say not to do this with it, so we did. At one point water came onto the bonnet of the car, the top of the toolbox and wheel arches on the trailer were submerged, but pleased to say no water got into anything - that bloody dust's hard to keep out though!! The trailer's done over 20,000 k's now, some of it on pretty rough roads and I couldn't even guess the number of times we've set up, but it still all works perfectly. I thought the photo of your trailer might be a good one to put on the office door Dave H ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Buying a camper can be a significant investment & choosing the right one can be hard at times due to the numerous choices available both locally, interstate & imported. Brett & Michelle gladly took time from their operation to enable me to view a camper already set up & go through the different options available to suit my family's needs. They explained everything from the grades of canvas, types of zips used to the kitchen sink. The experience was a friendly & open feeling, not pressured into any decision or corny sales pitch. I proceeded to do further research & view other manufacturers but all roads seemed to lead back to Down Under Campers. Down Under Campers were competitive with pricing, arranged delivery to my location in the North West of WA & actually delivered ahead of the mutually agreed time. Having taken delivery I can also vouch that their after sales backup is excellent. Brett was forth coming by supplying part numbers & pictures to upgrade the manual priming tap to an electric pump & tap arrangement. A small warranty claim was quickly rectified & the parts sent express post to my remote location free of charge within days. No doubt if I lived locally Brett would have rectified the problem himself. With all this in mind I would gladly recommend Down Under Campers as a quality Western Australian product. Vernon & Patricia W ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Brett, Peter and I would like to thank you for your thoughtfulness and workmanship in designing and constructing the canvas component of our camper trailer. We are delighted with the finished product. Many, many thanks P.S. We would be happy to endorse Down Under Campers for any future clients. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ We have just returned from another camping trip and still in love with the camper, especially the hard top design. We are using the rack on top for lots of things now, spare tyres, wood, solar panels, our dingy (sometimes) and we are even thinking of strapping the kid’s quad bike up there next time. Another thing we are happy about is choosing to have 2 doors in the sleeping area. Apart form letting extra breeze through, we are planning on making an awning which will attach from the back door. Hopefully the kids can have their little shaded area to play their games rather than messing up the sleeping area and the kitchen. Darren & Michelle R ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dear Brett, I thought you might appreciate some feedback on the Prado Camper Rooftopper I purchased from you earlier this month. I guess this may sound a little over enthusiastic, but my girlfriend and I decided to test it out this weekend, and headed down to Dwellingup on Saturday for a test run. Our family and friends found it really amusing that we were venturing out on what was one of the stormiest weekends in Perth for a long time and we have subsequently found out it was classed as a category one cyclone. We are both rather adventurous, so it seemed like a good idea at the time, but we were not expecting what awaited us. We had second thoughts on the way down, as there were fairly extreme wind gusts and heavy rain . We ended up just below the Lane Pool Reserve alongside the Murray river south of Dwellingup. The forest offered some protection from the wind, but the place was water saturated with streams and mud pools everywhere. The rain was set in and it was late afternoon, so there was no chance of sitting around waiting for a gap. I had the top up in about three minutes, which offered enough protection to put up the side walls and unload the 4WD. What could have turned out to be a nightmare night, ended up being a great experience. The camper top held up to heavy rain the entire night. Being off the ground was so much better than previous experiences with tents and there was no wind flapping that has always driven me mad with tents. Roxy, the dog, slept below on a dog bed and there was still enough room for an Engel fridge, Stove and small Table and chairs. It was still raining when we packed up, so being able to pack everything and remove the side walls while still having protection with the large overhang was great. The whole process was really easy. I must admit that I had been concerned on the way down. This was my first camping trip with my girlfriend and we had picked the worst weekend. Would she do it again? We both had a great experience and looking forward to many future trips away. Thanks for a great product!! Kind Regards ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Gday Brett, I have been meaning to write you an email for a while but have only just gotten around to it. We have been travelling around the top end for the last 4 months and are currently in Bundaberg. We have been to all sorts of remote places including Cape York (did the old telegraph track), Gibb River, the top Savanah way past Roper River to Burketown, towing our Down Under Camper all the way with no dramas. We have been really impressed with the campers capabilities. Whilst towing it up the old telegraph track we saw a number of other camper trailers worth alot more money than ours have troubles. I don’t know if you are keen for feedback but we thought we would include some points: Good Points Clearance of the trailer Points of interest that may need adjusting The brake line appears to be very vunerable to stones as we have broken it three times at the flare Please dont think that by these comments I am unhappy with the trailer. We love it. It was cheaper than the other campers that we looked at and does everything we want it to do. Towing it up the old telegraph track was a highlight as lots of people told us we wouldn’t be able to do it. From here we head inland down the Birdsville track back up into the middle then across the Tanimi home to Broome. As i said we really love the camper. Hope some of this information is helpful to you. All the best
OUR RESPONSE: Thanks so much for the great email. We really appreciate you taking the time to give us the feedback. It sounds like you had an awesome experience. It would be very nice, and much appreciated, if you could send some photos that we could put up on the website. :-)
With regards to your suggestions (all good and valid), we are happy to say that we have addressed the problem with the brake line, and we tuck it behind the axle now. The checkered plate we now glue and rivet. We have done a few campers with the doors zipped all around, but found that water gets in on the side where there is no awning. We are aware of the cooker and have found an alternative. It was good to hear about the carpet moving as we were unaware of this. We will definitely use some double sided velcro to fix that.
Thanks so much again, as we rely on our customers to give us all the feedback in order to keep improving our product.
Cheers Brett |
